L.U.MEN
a night-time show for a hydraulic man lift and three dancers.
The leading role in this performance is taken by the man lift, with an adjustable power-driven projector attached to it. From this combination is born a creature which moves about the performance area like a Cyclops, and interacts with the three dancers, accompanied by live music from Emilien Leroy.
L.U.MEN is a project which brings together Beau Geste and Emilien Leroy and their shared interest in machines and all things urban. The collaboration aims to explore the apparent austerity of a machine which, during the dance, is metamorphosed into a being possessing powers of spiritual and emotional elevation.
This new piece was unveiled in september 2013, in Dunkirk, in the frame of the event Dunkerque, Capitale Regionale de la Culture 2013, on the exceptional site of the AP2, the new FRAC (Regional Contemporary Art Fund), in the Nord-Pas-de-Calais.
